Glorious Predestination

"And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to his purpose. For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son." Romans 8:28-29 KJV

What great hope and comfort for the people of God. Though these verses bring great consolation, they are also hard to swallow at times.

Our text starts by saying all things. When we look back over our life, there are things that don’t seem to fit.

Times of trial and great testing. Times of valleys and heartaches. We all have asked the Lord why. Our text answers the question. These things are sent by God for our good. All things work together for our good. Each thing that comes our way is for our spiritual good and God’s glory.

This working of good is to all that love God and are called according to His purpose and will. Salvation is totally of the Lord.

The comfort of knowing that God predestined or determined beforehand those whom He would save is great indeed.

God chose us in Him before the foundation of the world. All that He chose He called. Every one of God’s elect will be called in conviction by the Holy Spirit. Those who are called them He will justify.

The sovereignty of God is great consolation to His people. God will break the will of the elect and cause us to repent of sin and place our faith in Christ. God must break our free will because it is in bondage to our depraved nature. Lastly we have the promise of glorification.

This has to do with our heavenly bodies that we will receive at the resurrection and also our soul going to heaven when we die.

If the Lord tarries His coming, my soul will go to heaven at death and part of glorification will have taken place.

At the resurrection complete glorification will be experienced by the saints of God.

Those that are alive at the coming of the Lord will drop this flesh and be changed to an incorruptible glorified body. Oh, what a blessed promise for God’s people.

In the eternal mind of God, all of His people are already glorified.

This verse very plainly teaches eternal security. We are technically already seated in the heavenlies in Christ Jesus. Amen!
